Summary:
This adjunct faculty position in MLS teaches lecture, laboratory, or both in the Medical Laboratory Science program. Adjunct faculty in the School of Nursing and Health Professions will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University and Faculty Policies and Procedures. Teaching responsibilities will include no more than 12 hours per academic year for faculty in the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Education/Experience:
Masters degree with ASCP-BOC certification in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science plus a strong commitment to quality teaching or equivalent combination of education and experience. College level teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation in discipline
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint and Word
Familiarity with database use
Familiarity with educational assessment practices
Experience working with Blackboard or a similar platform
Ability to instruct students of varying preparation and abilities
Excellent commitment to integrity, excellence, learning, and community
Excellent organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, and repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Subject to inside environmental conditions. Faculty may work in science laboratories and may be exposed to chemicals, biologicals, chemical processes, magnetic field, and scientific equipment/instrumentation.
Essential Functions:
Instructional Activity
Engage in instructional activity for the required number of credit hours per week per semester.
Meet with students as related to instructional activity.
Develop course objectives, lecture and laboratory objectives, outlines, and any other course materials pertinent to the class in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines.
Keep current for all teaching materials and revise course materials to reflect current practices in the discipline.
Post syllabus on Blackboard.
Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week; this can be before or after your class time or by appointment.
Grade assignments and exams; post midterm and final grades on WebExpress as described in the course syllabi.
If applicable, collaborate with laboratory instructor on syllabus, schedule of laboratory activities, and grades.
Annually review/update post-rotation exam and practicum objectives for your discipline.
If applicable, create, evaluate, update and revise student laboratory manual regularly.
If applicable, prepare for laboratory class.
If applicable, take inventory and submit order for lab supplies to Program Coordinator.
Actively participate in the assessment activities of the Program, Department, School and University.
Attend continuing education, such as workshops, meetings, and talks related to the discipline.
Attend Medical Laboratory Science faculty meetings.
