Job Summary:

Calling all Certified Medical Assistants who have leadership potential! We need your training and skills to help our clinic run smoothly, providing our patients with top notch quality care.

The Lead Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for acting as a leader and subject matter expert, providing patient care under the direction of a physician or another healthcare provider. The Lead CMA works to facilitate clinic workflow, assist patients, provide seamless delivery of care for each patient, process improvement initiatives, and supply ordering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a lead and subject matter expert for other Certified Medical Assistants, Front Desk Staff, Physicians, etc.
  • Trains other Certified Medical Assistants in the clinic.
  • Accurately room patients, obtain & record vital signs, patient history, and reason for seeking care.
  • Accurately document all care provided and procedures performed within the patient's medical record.
  • Assist the providers with patient education pertaining to their ongoing care.
  • Clean exam rooms and other patient care areas between each patient.
  • Perform appropriate basic and/or routine regular delegated medical functions as directed and within the appropriate scope of practice as inferred by knowledge, skill level, and CU clinic guidelines.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited CMA program and passing the National Medical Assistant Certification Exam (i.e., AAMA or NCCT).
  • Three (3) years of health care experience.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree.
  • Medical office experience in area of specialty.
  • EPIC experience.
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking.
  • Kronos and HealthStream experience.
  • MS Office experience.


Conditions of Employment:
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future.
  • Current CMA certification (i.e., AAMA, NCCT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross healthcare provider level CPR certification.
  • Must be able to work in-person.
  • Must be able to travel to alternate locations as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational and personal skills.
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge and skills.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of medication and injection procedures.
  • Ability to safely administer a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
  • Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.
  • Ability to accurately take and record vital signs.
  • Ability to accurately reconcile patient medications.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

$49,772 to $58,134.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
